Sonia Gomez, of Matawan, was behind the wheel of a 2015 Honda Pilot when she struck Judith Fox-Hernandez, of Aberdeen at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and 2nd Street in Aberdeen on Wednesday, Sept. 4, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said.

Fox-Hernandez was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where she died on Sunday, Sept. 29.

Gomez did not stop at the time of the crash at the scene, nor did she report the collision to law enforcement, Santiago said. She was later charged with second-degree leaving the scene of a fatal crash.

Fox-Hernandez's obituary says she was born in Brooklyn, NY on Oct. 4, 1965.

The youngest of nine siblings, Fox-Hernandez was married to Orlando Hernandez and was the mother of Gabrielle Fox-Hernandez and Jessica Hernandez.

"With an electric personality, she lit up every room she entered," her obituary reads. "Judith was the life of the party, bringing joy and excitement to every moment for her loved ones."

She was an avid animal lover having embraced a vegan lifestyle and had worked as a flight attendant, her obituary continues.

A Facebook page called "Justice For Judi Fox-Hernandez" is peppered with photos and bright memories of Judi.
